Warren E. Bristol, Jr. does not answer the call of the craft

Warren E. Bristol, Jr. (87) passed away in his sleep on Thursday afternoon, November 18, 2009 with his daughter Marcia at his side. Warren was a long time member of Columbia Lodge No. 25. He was raised a Master Mason on Aril 24, 1960 in Daskam Lodge No. 86. He was so much looking forward to receiving his 50 year membership pin in May 2010 that he had made his reservation two years ago with our Lodge Secretary. When a brother visited him at home, where he was recovering from a stroke he suffered several years ago, or at the health care center which he entered in late October, he would invite them to attend the ceremony. He made the point to include these words, "I require no presents, just your presence."

Arrangements are being made by Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave in Glastonbury. A wake is scheduled on Sunday, November 22, from 4-7 PM. There will be a Masonic Service at 6:30 PM so the Brothers should be at the funeral home around 6 PM. The funeral is Monday at St. James Church on Main Street at 11 AM. Warren's obituary appears in the Saturday (11/21) edition of the Hartford Courant.

His brothers noting that his health had fast deteriorated last week and being informed that he would soon lapse into a coma from which he would not awake, asked RW Don Dean, Grand Marshall of the Grand Lodge of Masons in Connecticut, to help arrange for Warren to recieve his 50 year membership pin early. With the approval of MW Art Carlstrom, Grand Master of  Masons in Connecticut, Warren was presented with his pin at 4 PM on Friday, November 13, 2009. He did recognize everyone and although he couldn’t talk, he knew we were there and what was going on. His daughter said that the next morning (Saturday) he was only able to open one eye and slipped into a coma.
