John (Jack) H. Somers has laid down his working tools.

John (Jack) H. Somers (86) died on July 1, 2010. He was raised a Master Mason on April 4, 1957. He is being buried today, July 7, in Merian, MA. His orbitual has not been published.


somejohnSOMERS, John John H. Somers of Glastonbury, CT, died Thursday (July 1, 2010). Born in Marion, MA, December 14, 1925, son of Reverend Laurence Drew Somers and Olive Hiller Somers. A resident of Glastonbury, CT, previously of Mystic, CT for many years. He saw action in the Pacific, in the US Marine Corps, during World War II. He was the territory manager, in New England, for Cincinnati Milacron for over 27 years retiring in Mystic. There, he was on staff at the planetarium at the Mystic Seaport Museum where he lectured. He also served on the advisory board of the New London Salvation Army. For over 10 years, he was the Connecticut State Historian for the Society of Mayflower Descendants. He had two Mayflower descendants: Richard Warren and William Brewster. He was a member of Buckingham Congregational Church in Glastonbury. He married Dorothy Newbold in 1950 and has two daughters: Linda Somers of Glastonbury and Karen Williams of Keene, NH. There are four grandchildren. He had a sister: Miriam Duris of NC., a brothers, Henry Somers of Manasquam NJ., David Delano Somers of Rochester, NY. He was a member of the Masons, Daskam-Columbia Lodge #25 of South Glastonbury. Private graveside services were held in Old Landing Cemetery, Marion, MA. The Mulryan Funeral Home had care of arrangements.
