September-December 2009 Master's Message

Septermber-December 2009 Trestleboard as PDF

Brothers:

It is hard to believe that it is time to write another message for the trestleboard. We have had a very busy year so far and we have a busy end of the year coming up as well.

This past May we had a great time at our DD Presentation and Awards Night with a very fraternal visit from Most Worshipful Arthur Carlstrom. Awards Night saw us present pins totaling 595 years of Masonic service. Later that month I took a trip to Florida and was able to visit four more brothers and their ladies to present additional service pins. Please see the flyer included for a report on that trip as well as the presentation of a 60 year pin to another very deserving brother.

Unfortunately, we had to cancel our plans for the Bourbon and Bluegrass event. We had difficulty coordinating our distributor, chef and music for the same evening, but we are still working on it for next year. Tentatively, we are thinking about holding it on the first Saturday in May as a Kentucky Derby Party.

We do have a full slate of activities coming up this fall that will include a degree class and we will be holding dinners on the evening of the Entered Apprentice and the Master Mason degrees. We also have our 4th Annual Fall Wine Tasting for the benefit of our Scholarship Fund coming up on October 3rd.  This is always a very enjoyable evening and very well attended, so get your tickets early as it is limited to only 100 people. Contact WB Skip House for tickets at 916-1973 or stop by Southside Wine & Spirits to get your tickets

We are also finalizing details on a bus trip to the National Heritage Museum, which has a large collection of Masonic artifacts combined with a stop at the Saugus Iron Works National Park. This will be a day trip leaving the lodge about 8 AM and returning in the late afternoon on October 24th.  The cost of this trip will be $35 and should be a very enjoyable day. If you are interested in this trip, please email me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or call me at the 614-5474.

In November we are planning a Ladies Luncheon at the Gallery Restaurant on November 15th.  The cost of this afternoon will be $25 per person and will start at 1:00.  We will have more details on this in Lodge this fall or feel free to call me for reservations and further information.

This coming fall the 2010 dues notices will be sent out and I wanted to remind every brother about the availability of a Life Membership in the Lodge. For 10 times the dues plus the current year’s dues, the secretary will hand you a dues card every year hereafter. The current cost of a Life Membership is $1210.  As I said in my last trestleboard, for you younger brothers, it will most likely save you money over the years, and for the older brothers, it is a great way to create a memorial to help the lodge in the future. Please remember that Lodge dues are due on January 1st of the coming year.  We will be discussing in Lodge this fall a $15-20 processing fee being added for any dues not paid by January 31st. Late dues create a lot of extra work for the secretary. If any brother is having financial difficulty, please contact the secretary, so we can see how best to help.

Lastly, Brother Mario has asked that if any brother has an extra wheelchair, he needs a couple for the lodge when we have events. If any brother of the lodge can help with this feel free to contact either myself or our Secretary, Brother Bob Flint.

Hope to see you brothers in Lodge this fall.

Fraternally,                        Brother Jeff
